PGA Championship!!

Rule #1: Don't wear a pair of these, or your feet will hate you for forever by the end of the day.

Rule #2: Wear some sunscreen, or your face/shoulders/chest (especially your nose) will be a lovely shade of tomato red and painful pink, as seen below.

Rule #3: Arrive just in time to see Rickie Fowler finish up on the 18th hole. The one day that I have somewhere to be and plan to leave work ASAP, I leave work an hour and a half late. But hey, we did get to see him hit two shots..

Rule #4: Get Rickie Fowler's autograph! Success. What a cutie.

Rule #5: See some Phil Mickelson.

Rule #6: See some K.J. Choi (on the right in the white) and Bubba Watson (between the two caddies in the black pants).

Rule #7: Bring along a sweet husband to put up with you while you complain about being sleepy, get you drinks cause you're dehydrated, and to just be an awesome person to hang out with for the day.

Rule #8: Don't work night shift the night before and expect to walk around 18 holes in the heat without feeling miserable... because you'll probably end up looking like this at some point during the day...

Rule #9: Stay in a really awesome hotel in downtown Atlanta with a sweet view.

Despite a few setbacks, we had an awesome time. Having my patient go bad at 5am and having to stay until 8:30am when we planned on leaving straight from the hospital about 6:45am definitely put some kinks in our plans. Poor Chuck, he had to just sit outside the hospital, waiting on me to leave, for an hour and a half without any real idea of what was going on other than a simple text that said, "Gonna be late. So sorry." But he stuck it out like an awesome husband, and off we went. The short 30 minute nap in the car on the way didn't exactly give me enough of a boost to be bounding with energy for the day, but I made do (and so did Chuck... he. is. so. patient). We were really just thrilled to be there, to see Rickie finish and get his autograph, and just to see some big names in real life. And to finish it off, it ended in a playoff, which was exciting and we had great grandstand seats on the 18th hole to watch the finish. Unfortunately, my phone died so I didn't get any pictures of the actual winners on the 18th. And just FYI, turns out they are really particular about no pictures. People were turned away at the gates because they had cameras.... and police officers would come say something to you if you were taking pictures on your phone. So all pictures were done very sneakily :) We had a great time and enjoyed our first trip as a married duo!

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend, as well!

eh, um.. war eag...

I just can't type the whole thing. I pains my Roll Tide heart too much to say it. But, one member of our family is now an official "War Eagle" gal, and I love her so I'll love her school on her behalf. But I'm just not going to say those horrible words :)

Yesterday, we moved my little, adorable, cutie-patootie all-grown-up sister into her freshman dorm at Auburn. We stayed the night before in a Travelodge in Auburn because she had an 8am check-in time and, let's be honest, our family isn't known for our punctuality. So, we spared our nice homes for the night to stake it out in sketch-ville and drove into town right on time to get the cars unpacked and get going.

Before I go any further, let me just say that packing two girls into a tiny space that is supposed to hold two beds, two dressers, two desks, two refrigerators, and other bookshelves while eleven different opinionated people are all sharing their two cents while packed into the tiny 8x16 foot room is not an easy task. But, in the end we prevailed and organized the space perfectly. The beds ended up being arranged like this...

Emily wasn't gung-ho about bunking the beds, so we reverted to a half-bunk, if you will. Just her feet will be underneath Lacy's bed. In my own personal opinion, I'm totally loving this arrangement. Making the sheets on the bed probably won't be the easiest task ever, but it saved them a ton of space in the room and she won't feel claustrophobic like she would if her head were underneath Lacy, too.

Her roommate is "Miss Crafty", so their room is adorable. Lacy sewed their shower curtain herself, their curtains are homemade, and all the decorative pieces are Lacy-made, as well.

Here's their door.

And here's Chuck. What a goof :)

I wish I'd taken more pictures of her dorm room, but I didn't. Partly because I only had my 50mm lens and her room was too small to get far enough away to actually get stuff in the picture... hahaha. That's a freshman dorm for ya!

It's so strange my little sister is in college. Chuck said the other day, "I remember when she had bangs and was in glasses." It doesn't seem like it was that long ago... and now, I'm married and she's in college. Time goes by too fast.

This week she is going through rush and I hope she enjoys it. No matter what decision she makes, I hope she feels confident that it's the right one... but most importantly, I just hope she has fun with the whole process.

Love you Emily. You are going to be a fantastic addition to Auburn and I know you will be very successful in all that you do! Mini-me, make me proud!!

randoms

It only took one week... hmph. One week back on night shift, and I'm already up at 2am and not asleep. This week at work was most definitely, without question, the most stressful/interesting week of work I have had since I started last September. I can't go into details even though I'd really like to (thank you, HIPPA), but just take my word for it. It was not only bad because of the critical status of my patients, but I am still (yes, still) not feeling up to par. And feeling ill is not something that goes hand in hand with being an ICU nurse. This week I just felt overwhelmed, sick, tired, stressed, and wanted to cry (oh, wait, that's right.... I did cry at work... ha). Like I said, a bad week. But, as always, the off days have arrived and I couldn't be more grateful.

I honestly don't have much to blog about, but felt like blogging, so this is going to be just a handful of randoms (hence the title). So, I'll just dive right on in!

Last Sunday night, Chuck and I ventured over to Bed Bath and Beyond to get some things we wanted necessary items for the house. We spent an ungodly amount of money (um, who knew curtains were SO DANG EXPENSIVE?!?!) but what else are gift cards/wedding money for? So, finally, our bedroom and den look more homey and like a house rather than a dorm room!

I probably should have ironed the bed skirt and curtains like my dear friend Cameron did for her new place, but oh well. According to Chuck, "The wrinkles will fall out. It's like when you hang up a wrinkly shirt. They always fall out." So that's what I'm going with. I also bought that new lamp sitting on the table between the two couches. It's this one from Pier 1. Yes, probably too much money for a lamp, but it matched just so perfectly with the sofas and curtains and walls and I just had to have it. I'm loving making our house our home. It's getting more and more decorated and really feels like "ours" now that Chuck has moved in and doesn't have to go home every night. Whoever said being married isn't the best thing ever was surely mistaken. I mean, I know it's been, what, three weeks? Not much time to dislike marriage, I understand. But I'm totally recommending it to everyone I know.

Okay, no more mushy gushy. Moving on.

The other day I ordered an antique printer's drawer off of Etsy that had been in my shopping cart for at least three months. But, I finally gave in and actually purchased it and am in love. See that white jewelry stand on the dresser in front of my mirror in the first picture? It just doesn't go with the room and gets in the way on the dresser. So, I'm solving that problem with a new jewelry holder. The finished product will look similar to this. It's not hung yet or filled with jewelry, but here it is fresh out of the package.

I can't wait to get it up on the wall and fill it with my jewelry. I have so many earrings, and it'll fill space on the bathroom wall and get my old jewelry stand out of the way! I'll add a finished product picture once it's complete.

I also, during my day of adventures purchasing home decor, bought a shadow box from Hobby Lobby to fill with wedding day memories. Here's the finished product.

I should probably take these pictures with something other than my phone. Ignore the terrible quality. ANYWAY, in the box are the letters Chuck and I wrote to each other on the wedding day, my garter, and my wedding day jewelry. I knew I wanted to display them and keep them safe, so I figured this was the best route! I think I'm satisfied with the result. I'm open to suggestions, too, so suggest away with any different ideas.

Tonight, Chuck and I went on a date night.

Our first date night as a married couple. And I must say, when the hostess asked, "What's the last name?", I probably got slightly over giddy when responding with "Abbey". But, hey, it's the little things in life, right? J. Alexanders was the restaurant of choice, and holy cow was it delicious. Thank you, Kayla, for always talking about how delicious their salads, french fries, and honey dijon dressing is. I most definitely got all three in my dinner and wasn't disappointed one bit! Date nights are fun. Even as a old married couple :)
Hope you all had a incredible week filled with happiness. Here's to an even better weekend!
Love you all.

married :)

Hello to all my lovely readers! Mrs. Abbey here :) Doesn't that sound nice?? I think it does, but then again, I'm biased. The wedding is over! We are MARRIED!!!! And it went off without a hitch! Well, sorta. Minus the mosquitoes that ate Chuck and I alive during our first look, and the rain that delayed the ceremony (twice!) and a few other things, the wedding was perfect! Honestly, I wouldn't change a single thing. Not the rain, not anything. It's what made our day unique and perfect, and in the end we are married and that's all that matters.
Because my sister is so awesome, she blogged about our entire wedding weekend on her blog! Check it out here.... Our Wedding Weekend by Amy :) And you can also see our wedding pictures (so far..) HERE! The Colorbooth through Gresham photography was a hit, which I was/still am ecstatic about. How hilarious are those photos?? There are TONS more on Facebook, and as soon as all of the photos are available on their website, I'll post the link on here.
So, since Amy filled you in regarding the wedding, I'll fill you in regarding the honeymoon!! The Bahamas were amazing. We were so in awe of the gorgeous ocean, the incredible (humidless!) weather, the spoiling, the all-inclusive drinks.... everything. Sandals sure does know how to treat a couple right, and I'm so glad we went that route. I could blog for hours about every detail, but I won't because I know that would get boring. So, how about just some pictures?

Atlantis for the day

sad to go home :(
We had such a great time on our honeymoon and want so badly go to back on another trip for our one year! I know that's way planning ahead, but man oh man we miss it!
Since we've been home, it's been all cleaning and laundry. Who knew just two people just create so many dirty clothes. And, to add to the mix, I got swimmer's ear on the honeymoon (which luckily didn't affect me until we got home) but I've been couch-bound for the past several days. I was supposed to work Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of this week, but Wednesday morning I woke up with the most severe left ear ache and was extremely dizzy. I went to the doc-in-a-box and got ear drop antibiotics and a Cortisone shot (no fun...). But, the dizziness never got any better and I was vomiting every time I tried to move, so off to the ENT at Trinity I went. Doc said it would just take time for the dizziness to go away, and he wrote me a doctor's excuse for work through the weekend. Luckily, too, because i can't imagine trying to actually function on the unit when every time I turned my head, I was extremely dizzy. Luckily, this morning, I feel much better, though the dizziness still comes and goes pretty often if I move around too much. But, luckily, my husband has been incredible and has taken amazing care of me.
So, I hope all of you have had a wonderful last few weeks! Tonight, we are off to Emily's swim team banquet.... the last one ever. Very sad moment... we've done swim team since I was 5 years old... and tonight, it all comes to a close.
But, before then, Chuck and I are off to Bed Bath and Beyond! Here's to returning wedding gifts we don't need and getting curtains for the bedroom and den!
