slacker.

So, I've been quite the slacker lately. And I don't just mean in regards to blogging. In far too many areas of my life I have been embarrassingly slack-ish. My room is a mess, my calendar isn't up to date, I haven't contacted several wedding vendors that I need to, and my to-do list is out the door. Lately, I sleep, go to work, sleep, go to work, and sleep on my off days. It's pathetic, actually, but I haven't quite adjusted to the night shift schedule yet. I'm working on it, but it's a process (apparently). And this life-style is my pet peeve. I can't stand having a messy room and things that need to get done. I need to spend one (majorly long) day organizing my life. I'm sure my frustration level will decrease quite a few points and I'll feel accomplished all in one day. I'll make sure to put that on my to-do list as well.

Regardless of the mountains of things I NEED to be doing, I've been doing some fun things lately :) Me, Chuck, Amy, Greg, Emily, and her friend Katie all went to the pumpkin patch last Saturday and acted like kids. We watched a Civil War reenactment and got quite a variety of pumpkins. It was a successful fall day to say the least.

I've gone wedding dress shopping once so far and am going again tomorrow. You see, there's quite a funny story that goes along with the whole wedding dress thing. I went to a store here in town, tried on a few dresses, and found one that I like. Then, later that day, I sent a picture of the dress to Christina to show her... and promptly received a text from her saying that she was sorry but that the dress I liked was her wedding dress. Haha straight out of a movie, right? I mean, it's not the end of the world. I've only been to one store and wasn't head-over-heels in love with that dress. I loved it the most out of those options I tried on, but there are lots of other stores. But, I have no doubt that dress will look beautiful on Christina :)

I've been very into finding Do It Yourself things for the wedding lately. I have tons of ideas written down of things I want to do when the time gets closer. I plan on making my own invitations, programs, and doing lots of other personal touches for the wedding. There are so many good websites out there too that give great ideas.

Two of my favorites so far are: The Wedding Chicks and Wedding Window

So anyway. Have a fantastic week :)

time flies. and i get behind.

Hello again. Where has time gone? I haven't posted in over two weeks and I honestly can't even remember what I've done these past two weeks to post about. Time has FLOWN by recently and it's unbelievable that it's already mid-October. It seems like just yesterday that it was the beginning of September. But, I'm not complaining by any means.. the faster time flies, the closer it gets to Christmas! And who doesn't adore Christmastime? I definitely do...

Anyway, lately. What has been going on lately.. Well, the last time I posted I think I mentioned that Chuck had a triathlon coming up. Weeellll, that didn't exactly go as planned. Poor Chuck.. he can't seem to shake these injuries. His bike broke during the race so he had to stop and get brought back in a car. Unfortunately, when his bike broke, he did something to his leg muscle which put him out of training for about two weeks. Well, now he's having knee problems, went to the doctor, and was told he had hurt his IT band. But, it's gotten worse so now he has to go for an MRI on Tuesday and see if he's injured the meniscus in his knee. If so, surgery may be necessary and that just messes EVERYTHING up. All he wants to do is train for the marathon in January and the poor guy can't even run. He's actually on crutches.. CRUTCHES! Like he will actually walk on crutches. Yeah, right. We'll see how long that lasts. Regardless, he definitely needs some prayers that it's not his meniscus and won't require surgery.

What else.. I started night shift! And successfully completely my whole first week. And didn't fall asleep on the job! (close, but I managed). My sleep schedule ridiculously messed up, but I hear it gets better with time. I really do love where I work. Everyone is so helpful and nice and it's not nearly has hectic as day shift was. Night shift can actually be pretty relaxing (at least so far.. that will probably change once I'm off orientation) but still. Although it still weirds me out that I'm awake and at work at 3am when everyone else is sleeping.

What else.. oh yeah, Bama lost. Ok, enough on that topic.

We have our plans for Disney World in January! Even if Chuck can't race (which he's determined beyond a reasonable amount, but whatever) we are still going to go. Zach will be running regardless, so we'll cheer him on even if Chuck doesn't run (and I'll be consoling Chuck the whole time because he'll be Mr. Frustrated all day long, but that's understandable. He's has quite an injury-prone body). I'm ecstatic to be going again. Disney World is my FAVORITE PLACE EVER! And now Chuck will get to experience it with us! Couldn't be more happy!!

No more details yet about the wedding. I've taken a break from planning just because I did so much at first to get important stuff booked. Next on the list will be the DJ, dress shopping, and bridesmaids dress shopping (I think..) and honeymoon!! We are very excited to start planning that so hopefully we can go talk to a travel agent sometime soon.

Ok, that's all I can think of. Remember, prayers on Tuesday for Chuck would be much, much, much appreciated! Hope you are all having a wonderful fall so far. Go carve a pumpkin! And eat some pie. And take pictures of the fall leaves on the trees. Enjoy God's beautiful fall season! Love you all.

RN, meaning Real Nurse!

I'm officially a real nurse working on the floor of a hospital... WHOA. Getting my license back in June was my first moment of "real nurse-ism", but walking onto the floor yesterday and having someone refer to me as a "professional" was WEIRD (and my second moment of "real nurse-ism"!). I was more terrified than I thought I would be, thinking I would be thrown into a sea of sick patients that I had to take care of by myself. Knowing I'd been out of a hospital since April (and out of the ICU since February) I was SO. SCARED. But, like everyone who works at Trinity had told me, my coworkers on the floor are amazing. They said at the very beginning of the day that the CCU believes in working as a team and that they don't "eat their young".

Whew. Let the sighs of relief begin....

Working was honestly amazing. I missed being in the hospital. I missed interacting with patients and taking care of people. I missed earning money.. haha.

One of my patients was pretty funny and told me that he was going to chop off my finger because I had a lot of money on it and I didn't need my ring... uhh, yes I do thank you very much Mr. Patient. (Don't worry, my ring is still safely on my finger where it should be.)

And I get to do it all again tomorrow! :) I hope I stay excited about work for quite some time. I like getting paid to do what I like.
